about

On December 10th, 2021, Rosemary Fossee’s original throwback holiday song, “When It’s Christmas Time,” will be released on WireBird Records. A snapshot of grief in the holiday season, “When It’s Christmas Time” delivers a familiar 1940s/1950s classic jazz feel, while illuminating a dark corner of the season, one of solitude, grief, and wishes left unfulfilled. This song kindles bittersweet nostalgia, a hope for what was that will never return, framed in the glow of a Christmas tree.

lyrics

Lyrics:
I miss the smell of your house in the winter time
The sound of your voice when the morning chimes
I have one regret
I’ll never get
What I want when it’s Christmas time

Whether it’s me who you call when the coffees on
When the lights and the tree stay up all year long.
It’s my life to lead
On that we’ve agreed
Here’s to you when it’s Christmas time

When it’s Christmas I’ll be alright.
I’ll Wait through the night by the phone
If you need me I’ve left on the lights.
They will guide you home.

Now that you’ve rolled all your die in this beggars game
But I still call your name just the same
And I need a rest
Gave my holiday best
All for you when it’s Christmas time

Whether you’re hearing me now
I’m uncertain of
Quietly I beg to the still above
That you’ll hear this regret
I’ll never get
What I want when it’s When it’s Christmas time

When it’s Christmas I’ll be alright.
I'll wait through the night by the phone.
If you need me I’ve left on the lights.
They will guide you home.
They will guide you home
